Lake Light

Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays. This images was taken recently on a trip down to Jackson Hole. The light was amazing in the storm, but I was facing almost right into it from my position. I like how it brings out the detail of the falling snow and intensifies the darkness along the base of the mountains. I utilized heavier grain to compliment the feel of drama and solitude that comes through in the image.

  1. How do you protect your camera and lenses?

You must have special gloves, or a remote trigger?

  2. Hey Kerri,

Great question…the answer is that I don’t protect my gear like it’s all brand new, I just go shooting. I keep it dry most of the time (no pouring rain), but I’ve given over to the fact that my ’studio’ is in the wilderness and the equipment is built tough to stand up to such use. If it gets a little wet, I wipe it off when I’m back in the car or wherever there’s shelter. Too much weather and under my waterproof coat it goes. As far as shutter release, yes, I often use a remote trigger for image sharpness and because it allows me to watch the larger scene with my own two eyes, not through the viewfinder of my camera.
