Lone Goblin

I’ve spent much of today researching more and more of Utah’s deserts, crags and ancient inhabitants. I just finished reading Edward Abbey’s Desert Solitaire, a great read for the anxious desert rat that I am, tied down in a Montana winter. I decided to revisit, yet again, my archives of UT images to find something ‘new’. I came up with this great image hiding in the ranks, taken after a storm at Goblin Valley in March of 2006. Since it’s -7°F (-27°F wind chill) outside here in Montana, I thought a nice snowy scene from ‘the rocks’ far south of me would be appropriate. I think my next trip will have to include The Maze portion of Canyonlands National Park, the least-explored region in the Lower 48.
