Passing Through

I spent today in Yellowstone Park with Ken Kapinski, a fellow photographer and Livingston Photo Society member. Cold, beautiful, sleepy…that was my day. We saw plenty of critters, including 16 coyotes, more than a dozen wolves and probably 30 big horn sheep…along with the one million elk and buffalo that are everywhere in Yellowstone. This image was taken at the Upper Terrace, which is quickly becoming a favorite place of mine. In the photo is the first light of the day passing through the geothermal steam above Canary Spring.

  1. I know this is an older entry, but this is simply stunning. My father-in-law lives in Casper, WY and I recently made the trek out there to visit him. Spent 4 days in Yellowstone and another 10 days going through Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, and Montana. I am convinced that this area is one of the most beautiful and mezmerizing places on Earth.

  2. Thank you, Jeff. A cold, wonderful day in a cold, wonderful part of the country…I agree. I need to spend some time down in CO for sure, but WY, ID, UT and MT are my staples. I’m glad you were able to spend some time in the region, 14 days is a good amount to really get a feel for the land and the pace of living that I’d say is an integral part of existing here. Be sure to get back this when as you’re able…if you appreciate it then it’s better than medicine!
