Nearly completing my week of Yellowstone images, this old bull was alongside the road near Soda Butte in Lamar…not moving once in the 5 minutes I sat there watching him. I think the critters down there are so tired from the cold and foraging for food in deep snow. Where this old guy is standing gets plenty of wind, so he’s not up to his neck…but most of the Park is several feet deep, up to four feet in places. Watching them bust snow with their heads is pretty amazing - imagine if every time you wanted a bite of food you had to use your head to move away two feet of ‘debris’ sitting on top of it…
