The Stranger
I’ve just completed several hours of updates to the blog, all of it back-end stuff that isn’t really visible to the viewer. I’m preparing for an overall theme upgrade, one that requires a good bit of customizing and testing beforehand. I’ll begin this next phase within a few weeks and will let you know before it gets underway.
Here’s another image from the recent Crazy Mountain drive - the classic single tree, minimalistic lines in the terrain and the ever-curious clouds of the Montana sky… I almost didn’t take this shot, but it has turned out to be one of my favorites from the day. I can’t tell you how many times that has happened to me, it’s definitely a reminder to shoot any scene that looks somewhat appealing in the field because it might be much, much more back in the digital darkroom.

This is stunning…so many details in every section of the shot. Was this originally taken in color, or did you convert it (I think I far prefer it in B&W, but I’m curious).
Hi Doug, thanks for your comment and question. I shoot all of my images in color and then selectively process some as duotones when a scene calls for it. I’m pretty big on tradition, though, and nearly always keep my processing within the boundaries of standard darkroom techniques. ‘The Masters’ were give such a title without the technology we have today, I like the idea of honoring that…
Much appreciated!
