Fading Gold

Busy couple of days…  I wanted to post some images from my Idaho trip, but haven’t put them together yet. I did, however, process this image from last evening, taken in the Shields Valley looking west at the Bridger Mountains. I was shooting directly into the sun so I had to use my hand to shade the lens. Several shots had a lot of flare, but this one came out quite well. I’ve been able to go photographing for the past 4 days and have a lot of good stuff to post. There’s the odd series on three strange log structures I found hidden in a thicket of trees alongside the Yellowstone River, as well as another cow-scape (which I’ve decided to finally create as a ‘tag’).

  1. Beautiful shot Cody. Glad to hear the past 4 days of shooting were good ones, I look forward to your future posts. As for lightning, I know it wasn’t that close, but your shot of the road with the lightning strike at the end of it was pretty amazing! Moo! ;-)

  2. Thanks, Diane, I’ve got more photo editing on my hands than I know what to do with! :-) Regarding the lightning shot, you’re right, I wasn’t that close. But I can tell you that it was miles and miles closer to us than any of the other bolts that had been striking. It was actually kind of strange…there was a point in the clouds, a vortex of sorts that I’d been watching for quite some time. Turns out, that’s precisely where the bolt I captured originated from. All the other strikes were probably 10 or 12 miles away, this one was only a mile and a half or so…close enough that we fled, quickly. I’m no storm chaser…ha!
