Life of Lizard

During my last trip to Utah I was perched peacefully on a rock looking out over a huge landscape when a bit of movement and muffled noise next to me caught my attention. I looked over to find two lizards chasing each other in a strange orbit around a small boulder, like rings around Saturn cocked at an angle; up and over, around, down underneath, out the other side and up over again…but almost sideways. For several minutes and as many laps, one pursued the other in what looked like a typical dispute between men - I’m guessing they both wanted the shady side of that nice round rock! When one was ready to give up and started to run away, the first lizard appeared again, caught his competition-in-retreat and the two became a curious little ball of ‘reptilian wrath’…until one laid still on its back. It must have been a mock technique, because the ‘victor’ scurried back to the boulder and the ‘loser’ rolled over and hauled on outta there…

These images were all processed using different ‘vintage’ techniques, which is why each has a different overall tone. Also, these are highly cropped images that were blurry from the start…I just thought it would be interesting to present them together for a general impression rather than an attempt at something finite.
