Shadow’s Advance

Today found me back on the Boulder River, hoping that the water level had come up enough so that the Natural Bridge falls were “in full bloom”, though I miscalculated pretty badly. I expected there to be a lot more runoff, but maybe in another week or two. I’ve got the USGS streamflow site bookmarked now, so I think I’ll have a better idea of what’s going on over there the next time I make the trip. The day was still immaculate, with amazing clouds in all directions. I took today’s image on the drive home across what happens to be buffalo ranch, though none were around to include in the shot. This scene appealed to me, as they so often do, for the stark edge between the approaching ink of shadow and golden light still lingering on the day. I love Montana!!
