3D MT Style
You’ll likely recognize the scene from today’s shot, but I decided to give the 3D action a little whirl. Neil Creek got me interested in 3D not too long ago and I’ve been playing around with the technique as it applies to larger landscapes. I know most of you will not be able to see this as ‘dimensional’ the first time, but I encourage you to read Neil’s post on how to see stereographs come to life, it’s very informational. There’s a bit of technique when it comes to “breaking” your eyes just enough so that the two images can blend together, but with a little practice it becomes quite easy to do. My only suggestion is that when you cross your eyes, do it subtly. It doesn’t take crossing them very much, only enough so that two images become three. Then allow your eyes to settle and focus on the one in the middle. Let me know if you have any success…

Success!! Pretty cool Cody. Wow, I never thought that crossing my eyes would actually have a practical use in viewing 3D photos. I guess you might say I’m very familiar with eye crossing, well years ago anyway.
As a kid, I would always joke around by crossing my eyes, or crossing one eye, etc., etc. Silly times. And what do we do if they “stick that way”?
It’s a really nice 3D photo mate. I haven’t seen much 3D landscape photography done, so I think you, with your amazing landscape skills, could make some truly remarkable 3D photos. I look forward to seeing you giving it a go with larger landscapes. I’m always here to tutor you
Anyway, I want to reiterate that I love this 3D photo. It’s so lush and colourful, and the flowers in the forground with the guy sitting among them show a nice 3D effect, which lessens gradually into the distance to the hills. Well done
More!!
That’s a very cool photo, Cody. I’d never viewed a 3D photo like that before and once you see how easy it is to view, I want to see more…so please keep them coming!
Sorry guys, I thought I replied to your comments already, but I must have fail to hit “submit”!
Thanks for you feedback, I’m glad that some of you were able to get the 3D action working here. It took me quite a while my first go, so hopefully I didn’t have you sitting around cross eyed for too long… I’m quite excited about the potential of this technique and will continue to post them as I’m able. Thanks again, everyone!
