Nameless Waters

There’s a reservoir just north of Wilsall, MT, which appears to have remained nameless over the years.  I’ve referenced a few different maps and mapping sites, but to no avail.  With a number of ranches and homes along its shore, I’m curious what names the locals have come up with.

  1. Oooohh, a mystery! ;-) Interesting photo, love the flow of the grasses in the foreground and the subtlety of the mountains in the background. Hope you’re having a good summer, finding some time for yourself outside of work. Can’t believe it’s almost August!

  2. I have heard that it is called Cottonwood reservoir. So that is what I call it.

  3. Aye, Cottonwood it is! Since this post I’ve heard the name referenced several times. How is it that you go forever not hearing something, then the first time you pay attention…it’s everywhere? Diane, I’m into the mystery of it all like you, but I have to thank Ken for shedding the light. :-) Speaking of Ken and light…when we going photographing, buddy?

  4. Cody, I have a copuple of long work weeks going on now. Might be able to find some time on sunday or monday. Give me a call sometime.

  5. Absolutely beautiful. The movement of the grass just makes the photo. You’re not helping me resist the urge to skip out for a week and take a road trip!

  6. Hi Teresa, thanks for your message. I’ve been itchin’ to get out on a long road trip myself, but just haven’t put it together. I’m hoping for UT in September with fingers crossed, but we’ll just have to see. Where’s a favorite place of yours to adventure to?
