Grand Teton Fall

Somehow winter snuck in…we received over a foot of snow in the last two days and it’s not even the middle of October.  They’re expecting 40 inches in some parts of MT…crazy.  I’ve not gotten out to take any shots yet, but that’s probably a good thing since I have a lot to post from my time recently spent in and around Grand Teton National Park.  Here are a few that I picked out, each one unique in its own way.  You’ll notice on the last of today’s images that the very tip of The Grand is darkened from a cloud – I’m not sure if that’s good timing or bad.  I have a feeling I snapped the shutter about 3 seconds too late, though.  Ersh…

**Note - I was, until recently, using a plugin for stat tracking that had an undesirable feature I was unaware of.  It seems that some of you were seeing the text “You’re being watched” on the bottom of my individual post pages, which became known to me only last week.  I have removed the plugin and apologize for the impression it may have given…this blog is NOT a forum for me to snoop on you, it’s a forum for you to snoop on my work.

  1. Stunning, absolutely stunning, and even more so, given that this is not exactly uncharted territory. I love your trademark way of handling light. Not going into orange skies can be rewarding after all.

  2. Wow, gorgeous series! I especially like the first and last photos. The first for its dramatic light and silhouette, and the second, well, is just stunning Cody. Wow….did I say that already? ;-) Over a foot of snow!!!!

  3. Wow, what a great set full of colors! As much as I like all of your work, I’m a bit partial to the color shots, so this post is a definite favorite.

  4. Absolutely beautiful. Of course, sunny autumn days with autumn colors are a wonderful opportunity for photography - especially in color.

I already heard of the snow over there through dog contacts. I’m envious ;)

  5. Great color! I like the angle of the last one and the blue skies make for dramatic color contrast.

  6. @Diane - Two of my favz also, Diane. I intentionally put one at the beginning and the other at the end to pull people viewers through the list. :-) Thanks for your kind words, Diane.

@Scott - Thank you, Scott. I understand about the color…I’ve received several comments from people regarding how much I post color vs. duotone…even my father! I’ll be posting plenty of color for my next few posts, keep your eye out…

@Ramin - Yes, the primary reason for the trip was to capitalize on the fall colors and I think it’s safe to say our venture was successful. We left the area right before the winter storm hit…good thing, I didn’t have my cold weather camping gear. :-)

@Jay - Thanks for going on this adventure with me, Jay, as we have so often. Good times…

  7. Andreas, your message got caught in my spam filter and I wasn’t paying attention! Thank you for your kind compliments, I’m glad you enjoyed this series. I was fortunate with my timing; between storms and at the peak of color. I can’t even begin to imagine how amazing Austria must be in the fall. I spent a few days Gmunden and Hallstatt a number of years go, but in the spring. One day… :-)
