Miles From Nowhere

I just couldn’t find a better way to title my post for today than to steal it from Cat Stevens, one of my favorite singer/songwriters while growing up.  The words resonate through the image and tell a simple story not unlike my own; wanderings which find me lost, the answers which arrive in my viewfinder.  I suppose it’s all in how one applies it. “Miles from nowhere, guess I’ll take my time…”

  1. That is beautiful. Cows, snow, miles. What more could one want?

  2. This one brings back great memories of my photo expedition to Utah. I just love the vistas and the lack of fences.

  3. Wow, awesome photo Cody! The color scheme is beautiful. I especially like the tire tracks, not only do they help lead your eye, but they help create questions about the scene. It looks desolate, but yet we know people have come and gone, but where to or from? What lies just over the hill? Cool shot!

  4. @Frank - Thank you for your feedback, Frank, I’m glad you enjoyed the image. I agree…what more could one want? Though, I suppose that formula only works for a certain type of folk… :-)

@John - Hi John, I appreciate your taking a moment to write. Interesting that you mention UT with this shot, I felt like I was in the state for most of this day. The terrain I had just left while traveling on this road wa incredibly Utah-esque, made me long for a road trip south!

@Diane - Hey stranger, good to hear from you. :-) Desolate is the right word for this place. I drove for about 6 or 7 hours without seeing a single vehicle and these tracks only emerged in the 7th hour I believe. I guess you could say that I was the rush hour…lol. Best to you.

  5. Great picture. You are right about this being for a certain kind of folk - like those who can handle empty spaces and harsh weather. When are you going to have prints available?

  6. Hi Tom, thank you for your comment. Prints of all of my work are available, I just haven’t incorporated one-click purchasing here on the site. Please feel free to e-mail me directly to inquire further - contact(at)codyredmon(dot)com. Thanks!
